Affordable Living
VicUrban is committed to improving housing affordability for Victorians by providing access to quality affordable housing that is located close to services, transport, employment and community facilities.
VicUrban uses market-based initiatives and partnerships to:
- improve access to home ownership for moderate income households
- increase the supply of affordable rental housing for low income and disadvantaged households
Other initiatives include:
- pioneering higher density employment precincts in growth areas
- delivering over 40% of land in the lowest quartile of the surrounding market
- delivering and evaluating the OwnHome shared equity pilot and promoting learnings to industry and government
- piloting the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) with a view to submitting up to 400 additional NRAS units in both established suburbs and urban growth areas
- participating in the Federal Governments Social Housing Initiative to build approximately 5000 new public and community housing units in Victoria
- showcasing affordable living through the delivery of major 6-star communities
