Community Well-being
We facilitate the development and delivery of community infrastructure, community programs and community engagement activities to address the social and well-being needs of communities.
Community well-being initiatives we are undertaking include:
- Developing a green lifestyles program in partnership with Sustainability Victoria to educate and innovate residents to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
- Investigating opportunities for cohousing projects. Cohousing is a community where residents collaborate on the design and management of their community.
- Piloting the first of a series of interactive community websites at Melbourne Docklands as well as opening a children's hub for local residents and workers.
- Supporting the formation of resident associations at Lynbrook,
Cairnlea, Point Cook and Roxburgh Park. - Creating a sense of place through the provision of Public Art at Aurora, Valley Lake and Docklands.
- Incorporating life long learning and employment opportunities at Aurora including: a pre-vocational and employability program for young local job seekers, and a Living and Learning Centre which aims to provide access to affordable formal and informal learning programs, including a primary school, kindergarten and childcare facility..
- Undertaking community consultation to inform a shared vision for Revitalising Central Dandenong.
- Planning for a mix of services to meet the needs of people that live, work and visit VicUrban communities at Officer, Riverwalk and Valley Lake.
