  • 340 hectare site at Officer in the Shire of Cardinia.
  • Land adjacent to the existing Officer Train Station on the Pakenham line.
  • 5 minutes to Pakenham and 20 minutes to Dandenong by train.
  • Located between the Princes Highway and Pakenham bypass.
  • Projected population growth in Shire of Cardinia of 41,500 by 2019.

PLANNED DEVELOPMENT

  • A mixed use transport oriented development around the Officer train station, bringing jobs and services closer to where people live.
  • Up to 6,000 local jobs and a range of community services located in a Major Activity Centre.
  • A choice of homes for up to 15,000 people, catering for different lifestyles and budgets.
  • High performance buildings reducing energy and water demand.
  • Local travel network giving priority to pedestrians and cyclists.
  • 1,500 construction jobs per annum from 2010.
  • Precinct Structure Plan being developed in partnership with the Shire of Cardinia and the Growth Areas Authority.

CLINTON CLIMATE CHANGE INITIATIVE

  • VicUrban@Officer is one of 16 projects selected world-wide by the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI).
  • Areas to be investigated through CCI partnership include:
    • Passive buildings
      The design of buildings to minimise the need for heating, cooling and electricity use.
    • Clean energy technologies
      Local production of electricity, heating and cooling for buildings using a range of new and emerging technologies, such as tri-generation, fuel cells, large scale solar, biogas and ground source heating and cooling.
    • Green vehicles
      Testing the use of a range of green vehicles which have substantially higher fuel performance or use cleaner fuels

NEXT STEPS

  • Structure plan completed - end 2009
  • Master planning and community consultation - late 2009 - early 2010
  • Commencement of site works - mid 2010
  • Developer opportunities tendered - late 2010
  • First residents and businesses on site - mid 2012
  • Total development period 12 - 15 years
