VicUrban is refocusing on supporting more housing in established areas, particularly along major public transport routes, in activity centres in metropolitan Melbourne and in large regional centres.
These new residential developments will demonstrate high quality, affordable and sustainable housing.

The Victorian Government established the broad functions and responsibilities of VicUrban through the Victorian Urban Development Authority Act (VicUrban Act) - (opens PDF, 183KB).
The Act states VicUrban has responsibility to:
a) carry out urban development
b) develop the Docklands area
c) undertake declared projects and
d) assist in the implementation of Government urban development policies and strategies, including Melbourne 2030
