Nation Building Initiatives

The Australian Government has committed $5.65 billion over three years to June 2012 towards public and community housing through its Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.

Victoria is responsible for delivering $1.265 billion of the social housing program over the three years to June 2012. The biggest ever investment in social housing in Australia will fund over 4500 new rental homes for Victorians on low to moderate incomes, as well as upgrades and repairs benefitting a further 5600 homes.

VicUrban's Response to Population Growth

Victoria is experiencing significant change as a result of population growth and changes in its demographic profile.

Solutions are required for accommodating more people in the established parts of Victoria so they can be close to existing jobs, transport, services and leisure activities.

VicUrban, in line with the Victorian Government’s Melbourne @ 5 million policy, is planning to be part of the solution by creating housing developments in established suburbs and regional cities for a wide range of people in and around activity centres.

Our Projects

VicUrban is working with the Victorian State Government to identify and transform appropriate sites close to transport, jobs and community facilities into vibrant, residential communities.

Some of these projects are proposed to include a component funded by the Federal Government's Nation Building housing program. These projects include:
